Karachi (NNI): The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Inter-University Zone L Volleyball Championship has officially commenced, with eight universities from Karachi participating in the tournament.
Eight universities compete; Dawood University wins opening match and qualifies for semifinals
The participating teams include the University of Karachi, Iqra University, ZABIST University, Nazir Hussain University, Ziauddin University, Hamdard University, Al-Kausar University, and Dawood University.
Such inter-university sports initiatives play an important role in strengthening education in Karachi by promoting student engagement beyond the classroom.
The opening ceremony was attended by District Sports Officer East, Ismail Shah, as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Director Sports of Dawood University, Hafeez Khan, stated that HEC has consistently played an important role in promoting sports and providing students with opportunities to showcase their talent.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief Guest Ismail Shah said that Karachi has immense sports talent, and with proper encouragement and support, local athletes can represent Pakistan successfully at the international level.
Vice Chancellor of Dawood University, Dr. Aurangzeb Khan, welcomed the organization of the championship and expressed hope that all participating teams would display high-quality sportsmanship and competitive spirit throughout the tournament.
The opening match of the championship was played between Ziauddin University and Dawood University, in which Dawood University emerged victorious and secured qualification for the semifinals.
